Amit Bhaduri is an economist and a consistent critic of mainstream neoclassical economic theory, relentlessly exposing its logically flawed foundations. His research span several important fields including capital and growth theory, Keynesian and Post-Keynesian macroeconomics and development economics. His contribution as an economic theorist lies in challenging the mainstream theory in a precise and yet compelling way, bringing even into formal analysis the role of power in the analysis of the market economy. Some of his writings have been translated into several major European and Asian languages. He is currently internationally selected professor (of clear fame) in Pavia University, Italy and visiting professor in the Council for Social Development, New Delhi.
Amit Bhaduri is also an activist who is a staunch critic of ‘corporate-led growth strategies’ and ‘developmental terrorism’, that have emerged in India and other developing countries in the wake of globalization. He has also been articulating alternative development strategies that seek to mobilize the strengths and energies of the poor masses that are currently disenfranchised and excluded from the growth process.
Amit Bhaduri currently lives in New Delhi with his wife Madhu Bhaduri, who is a former Diplomat, and both of them are intensely involved with various activist groups.
